Treatments
I will use one or a blend of therapies mentioned below, depending on the condition you're seeking treatment for. Acupuncture will typically be included, and together we'll explore the most effective approach to restore your health.
Acupuncture & Electro-acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine that involves inserting thin needles into specific points of the body. These points are believed to correspond to channels or pathways through which vital energy flows, according to traditional Chinese medicine. Acupuncture aims to restore the balance of this energy, known as qi, and thereby promote health and well-being. In simpler terms, it's like tapping into the body's natural energy system to help alleviate pain, treat various ailments, and improve overall health.
Electro-acupuncture is a variation of traditional acupuncture that involves the use of electrical stimulation along with the insertion of needles into specific points on the body. Instead of just using needles, a small electric current is applied to the needles to enhance the effects of the treatment. This electrical stimulation is believed to further stimulate the acupuncture points, potentially providing additional pain relief or therapeutic benefits compared to traditional acupuncture alone. It's like adding a little boost of energy to traditional acupuncture to potentially make it more effective for certain conditions, mostly used for muscular-skeletal complaints.
Cupping & Gua Sha
Cupping is a therapy where suction cups are placed on the skin. This suction draws out toxins, promotes blood flow, and balances the body's energy flow, known as qi. It's often used to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and alleviate pain.
Gua sha is a technique where a smooth-edged tool is used to scrape the skin. This scraping action creates redness (petechiae) on the skin's surface, which releases stagnant energy, known as qi, and promote blood circulation. Gua sha is often used to relieve muscle tension, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a therapy that involves burning dried mugwort (a type of herb) near certain points on the body. The heat generated from burning the mugwort stimulates these points and promotes healing. Moxibustion is often used in traditional Chinese medicine to relieve pain, improve blood circulation, and boost the body's natural healing abilities. It's like using a gentle, warming sensation to help alleviate discomfort and support overall well-being.
